My minute of mindfulness gave some time to put more thought into my big question. Lately, i've been researching the possible causes of why the government decides to target rebels or people that oppose the government. My minute of mindfulness let me think about what would be a great way to formulate the right answer for my big question that will answer it.

Gatsby was rumored to be German spy, a relative of a kaiser, a bootlegger, an Oxford man, a war hero and rumored to have killed somebody. However, the people spreading these rumors didn't really know him much either. Nick called the man in Gatsby's library a middle aged man with huge owl eyed spectacles who sat poring over the unread books in Gatsby's library. Nick was fascinated with Gatsby and saw him as a corpulent businessman which is actually very friendly. What Nick found out about Jordan is that she's incurably dishonest. What Gatsby and Nick planned to do the next day was to go up in the hydroplane at 9:00. At the end of the chapter Nick's cardinal virtue is, "I am one of the few honest people I have ever known. Nick declared honesty to be his cardinal virtue at the end.

Naturalism: nature is so much bigger than nature, man loses against nature, people are the pawns in the game, rich people aren't portrayed as powerless, naturalness died out in the end of the 1940's Realism: history of american literature isn't that long,  Modernism: people were happy of the thought that tomorrow was going to be better than today,  Genre:weird made up thing, in music it's immediate, you can see it in real time, anyone who writes doesn't sit down and choose what particular style to write in, stereotyping literature instead of stereotyping people,  Liminal: refers to a state of being, what you are when you are no longer what you used to be but are not what you want to be, in between phase,  Rule Breaker: person who doesn't know the rules, when they broke the rules they most of the time added to the mix,  Transcendent: once you know what you are doing you can improvise

Syllogism: simplest form of logical argument. There's a major premise, then the minor which leads to the conclusion. There's only one truth which is the factual one. But, everyone has their own perspective of the truth Truth is the fact that we can factually verify in the world and actually exists Faith has no place in logic Faith is something you believe but may not always be the truth Syllogism is true but may still not hold ex: australia is having it's worst wildfire in history as is queensland because queensland is in australia so therefore queensland is on fire. Reality: We factually don't know if queensland is entirely on fire but it's alleged we are so sloppy in our reasoning thats why people believe so much nonsense Validity: do my premises support my decision Premises are a general category and drive us down to a main decision

American literature is literature that has to do with american history. Literature on its own is written words, have to do with creative thoughts, is a form of expression, has a meaning behind it and is a from of art that could sometimes be portrayed through letters. I can contribute to american literature by using it t write and get my ideas across to the reader.

Many students find essay writing difficult and frustrating. They know what they want to say, but when it comes to expressing themselves through an essay they encounter problems. Not only do they have to address the ideas of their topics, but thy have to follow the format. That's why it can be a little intimidating sometimes when it comes time to writing one. In this class we have learned that we shouldn't be scared of writing a essay because it's not as bad as it seems. Since the beginning of the year I remember as I walked into the class seeing a totally different layout than the rest of my other classes not just by the seating but also the lectures that were given out to us. As to my knowledge I thought that this class wasn't going to be that bad and it was going to be a bit easier than my other classes because we were only working on computers and in the journals. However, I was proved wrong we actually do a lot of work in this class here if we don't keep up we...

Today.  This moment.  Right now.  You have a chance to be great.  To be honest.  To be kind.  To do your job.  To tell yourself a different story about yourself. I am perfectly well aware that some of you have a story that goes something like, "I always tell myself I'm going to do better at the beginning of a semester, and then..." I care very much about you and the quality of your life, so I'm going to take this moment to be honest. Knock it off. Your honesty is welcome too.  If you are dealing with difficult circumstances, or feelings related to anxiety or depression, this is an opportunity to be honest with a teacher.  Communicate.  Get some support.  Take responsibility for the outcome, and begin to take responsibility for your life.  I will honor your trust and I will listen.  I understand family and illness and all sorts of emergent adversity, and I understand stress, and I will work with you to figure out a solution...

We  were asked to conduct a Socratic Seminar. We spoke about how to create one and then did one. At first it was awkward because no one was willing to speak in front of everyone but later got used to it. In my group we were debating if the earth was shaped like a donut or not. We discussed that it couldn't be possible for the world to be shaped like a donut. Finally towards the end of the class period Dr. Preston was speaking about the whole topic of Socratic Seminars and how they are important when it comes to discussing certain topics openly in a group.     

- people shouldn't try and be something else - it's important for people to know their worth - if you exercise your dreams the you will find yourself being a prince like the fable - in history our imagination plays us false - no one is superior than anyone else - we are all the same - just because some has luxuries doesn't mean their person is luxurious - if you stay original then you are worth a lot as a person - everyone  has the right to become of what they dream of but it's up to them to put in work and become it - we all are intelligent that's one of the reasons why we manage to stay alive - every man that will discriminate is due to lack of critical thinking

- a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds - to be great is to be misunderstood - due to Copernicus Revolution people found out that the sun was the center of the universe - instead of relaxing it's better to hear a call for action

- WE CHOOSE WHAT WE WANT TO DO - WHEN WE ARE FOCUSED ON SOMETHING, WE AREN'T FOCUSED ON ANYTHING ELSE - IF YOU DON'T PUT IN THE WORK THEN DON'T EXPECT TO SEE RESULTS - DON'T THINK THAT THE YOUTH DON'T HAVE A VOICE IF THEY AREN'T WILLING TO TALK TO US - SOME YOUTH IS MORE MATURE THEN WHAT EMERSON THINKS - BE YOURSELF AND DON'T LET WHO YOU ARE DIE - FORMIDABLE DOESN'T NEED YOUR AFFECTION TO BE GREAT - IT'S A BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO BE WHERE YOU DON'T OWE ANYTHING TO ANYONE - SOCIETY EVERYWHERE IS A CONSPIRACY IN EVERYONE'S MAN/ WOMAN HOOD WITH ITS MEMBERS - YOU HAVE THE CHOICE TO INVEST YOURSELF IN WHAT'S NECESSARY OR NOT - YOU ARE CAPABLE OF GREATNESS !!! DON'T BE A CONFORMIST !!!

My first impression on this essay was that I saw that it was very long but after reading it I understood what the quotes and word meant. The essay was full of a lot of truths that have to do with us as a person. Epilogue: comes before chapter/essay; sets the tone "Our acts our angles are, or good or ill" - we should listen to our own thoughts as much as we listen to others - own your thoughts and be yourself - to imitate somebody is to kill yourself : the minute you change yourself or act like someone else is the minute you as a person dies -

To make a long story short, I had uncles that the police had a lot of search warrants for especially 2. I remember as a little girl when the police would constantly go to my house and do searches for either of my 2 uncles. This is because both of my uncles used to live with us so the police had our address and knew that they lived with us. I remember one day that I was doing my homework in the living room and the police just busted in through the front door of my house because they had gotten a call that my uncles were somewhere around the area that we lived in. After they busted in through the door they ran up and down the stairs, flipping couches, beds and cabinets over to see if y uncles were hidden somewhere. They never found them in the house so they ended up leaving. Later, we found out that one of my uncles was caught but then later released.
